
The African Film Festival Atlanta 2025 Announces Its Official Film Selections and Ticket Sales
[ATLANTA, GA] (February 26, 2025) – The African Film Festival Atlanta (AFFATL) powered by the African Film & Arts Foundation inc., is pleased to announce its official film selection and ticket sales for its 4th edition, taking place from March 13th – 17th, 2025. This year,AFFATL will bring the best of Nollywood to diverse audiences and redefine how Nigerian cinema is perceived around the world. In this vein, AFFATL’s theme this year is African Voices, Global Stage: The Nollywood Influence. By integrating with Atlanta’s unique features as a dynamic social, educational, artistic, cultural and film production hub, AFFATL’s goal is to showcase passions, subtleties and trends in African cinema.
This year’s lineup is unmissable,featuring gripping narratives, eye-opening documentaries, and award-winning performances. Some of the spotlight narrative films include; Opening Night feature “Mojisola” by Nollywood filmmaker Kenneth Gyang starring award winning actress Chioma Chukwuka Akpotha, Anthony Fitzgerals, Tomi Ojo; Centerpiece feature “The Man Died” starring Wale Ojo as Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka, fighting for truth under a brutal regime; closing night feature “Ebrohimie Road: A Museum of Memory”explores how a campus bungalow at the University of Ibadan played an outsized role in the life of a Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka . Other narrative features include Ugandan film “Makula” where a woman’s dream marriage turns into a nightmare of sex slavery and organ trafficking, starring Nisha Kalema, and “This Unexpected Love” exploring Haitian and Nigerian traditions through the lens of international students, staring Nollywood veteran, Stella Damasus.
A selection of documentaries include “Le cinéma de Marie-Josèphe”, honoring Martiniques’ Marie-Josèphe Yoyotte, 3x César-winning editor behind Microcosmos & Winged Migration; “Price of Hope”a powerful documentary that sheds light on the resilience of young girls in Kenya rescued from FGM and child marriage and, “Ichi: Marks in Time”, which documents through the power of photographs and storytelling, the history of the lost tradition of scarification marks known as ‘ichi amongst the Igbo-speaking people of Nigeria.
One of the goals of AFFATL is to provide action-driven input in improving the image of the continent through the showcase of films that change the narratives of people of African descent.
