African Film Festival Atlanta 2024 Postponement and New Partnership
[ATLANTA, GA] (November 12, 2024) – The African Film & Arts Foundation Inc. (AFAF) announces a change to the calendar for our much-anticipated in-person festival. Due to circumstances beyond our control, the African Film Festival Atlanta has been postponed to March 13th–17th, 2025.
This postponement allows us to ensure the festival returns bigger, better, and more inspiring than ever, providing an unforgettable experience for filmmakers and audiences alike. All film selections will remain as planned, and if you’ve already submitted your film, there’s no need to resubmit for the March screenings.
AFAF Partners with Nollywood Travel Film Festival!
Amid this update, we’re thrilled to announce a new and exciting partnership with the Nollywood Travel Film Festival (NTFF). This collaboration will elevate the festival experience, opening doors for incredible opportunities for filmmakers and audiences.
Together, AFAF and NTFF will bring diverse storytelling, thought-provoking discussions, and inspiring workshops to more audiences, transcending borders and enriching cultural conversations.
What to Expect in March 2025
Prepare for an extraordinary festival featuring:
- Screenings of world-class films from African and global filmmakers.
- Interactive workshops and discussions, co-hosted with NTFF.
- A celebration of African stories that connect communities and spark change.
We promise a festival that will be worth the wait, with new surprises and a fresh lineup of events that spotlight the power of African cinema.

About AFAF
The African Film & Arts Foundation (AFAF) is a non-profit 501(C)(3) media arts organization based in Atlanta, Georgia, that aims to be a conduit for changing the imagery and narrative of Africans and people of African descent through the lens of arts and culture.
Launched in 2019, AFAF partly realizes its mission through two of its signature events: Cinema for the Culture (CFC), a monthly film screening, and conversation sessions with filmmakers and the African Film Festival Atlanta. The inauguration of ‘Cinema for the Culture’ was funded by Georgia Humanities and Sudan’s official submission to the 2021 Academy Awards – “You Will Die at Twenty,” directed by Amjad Abu Alala, was the film screened.
