AFRICAN FILM FESTIVAL ATLANTA (AFFA) is a signature event of the African Film & Arts Foundation Inc, a non-profit media arts organization whose mission is to magnify and celebrate the visions, voices, lives and stories of people from Africa and the African Diaspora.

The goal of AFFA is to be part of the conversation as well as provide action-driven input in improving the image of the continent through the showcase of films that change the narrative of people of African descent. By integrating with Atlanta’s unique features, as a dynamic social, educational, artistic, cultural and film production hub, AFFA’s goal is to showcase passions, subtleties and trends in African cinema.

The African Film & Arts Foundation is pleased to announce the inaugural launch of the 1st African Film Festival Atlanta. Due to COVID-19, our inaugural launch will be conducted online as a mini-film festival. The three-day festival will be held online from November 20th – 22nd 2020. For our first year, we will be celebrating films from and about Nigeria and Nigerians in solidarity with the EndSars movement currently occurring in Nigeria.

With the spread of Nigeria pop music like Afrobeats, the popularity some of its industries like Nollywood (Nigerian Film Industry – which is purported to be the 2nd largest distributor of films in the world) and the running joke of the Jollof rice Wars, we no longer have that “single story” about Nigeria. Technology and social media have helped springboard multiple homogeneous stories about Nigeria.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-w69bfZluI
