As we step into 2025, we reflect on a remarkable 2024 filled with impactful storytelling and creative collaborations. At YP Lagos Film & TV, we mentored emerging filmmakers, inspiring the next generation of African storytellers.

Our signature Cinema for the Culture (CFC) series made a powerful return with two in-person activations: the award-winning SIRA by @apolline_traore and The Journey of the Marimba by @marino_aguado. In partnership with Black Star Week powered by @atlblackstar, The Journey of the Marimba was screened in person on June 20th at @aarl_atl, further amplifying diverse African and global narratives. Supported by @ae.atlanta, these events showcased the transformative power of African cinema to engage and inspire audiences.

One of our proudest moments was participating in the Women in Film and TV Conference 2024 (@fwiftnigeria), where our founder, Mojisola Sonoiki (@africanfilmarts), joined industry leaders like Chisom Mbonu-Ezeoke, Mansurah Isah, Belinda Yanga, and Mildred Okwo to discuss the future of African film and TV. With hands-on workshops, insightful panels, and vibrant networking sessions, it was a celebration of progress in our industry. Thank you to all our supporters—2024 was a year of growth and innovation, and we’re excited to make 2025 even more impactful!

1.""Sira"" (2023)-Winner of the Panorama Audience Award at the Berlin International Film Festival.

Sira follows the gripping journey of a young Fulani woman named Sira, whose life takes a brutal turn when Islamic militants ambush her caravan in the Sahel desert. Left for dead, she defies all odds, relying on her resilience and courage to survive in the harsh terrain. The story vividly portrays the themes of survival, love, and cultural strength against the backdrop of extremist violence

2.""I Am a Slave"" (2010)

Inspired by true events, this British film portrays the harrowing experiences of Malia, a Sudanese girl captured and forced into domestic servitude in London.
